Autsajderska, slučajna, brutalna, intuitivna, vizionarska, marginalna, sirova, gruba, naivna, samouka umetnost. Drugačija umetnost tj. umetnost drugačijih. Upravo su „drugačiji” autori bili oni koji su radikalno menjali vizuelnu kulturu dvadesetog veka. Dišan i dadaisti smatrani su za čudake i egzibicioniste, fluksusovci i članovi bečke akcije zgražavali su umetnički establišment. Ipak, svojim eksperimentima ovi autori dali su umetnosti vetar u leđa. Koliko god njihov rad svojevremeno bio smatran opskurnim, jedno je definitivno: publika nikada nije potpuno okrenula glavu jer u svakoj opskurnosti ima nečeg omamljujućeg i primarnog.
U bukvalnom prevodu sa francuskog jezika Art Brut bi značilo “sirova umetnost” – ona koja još uvek nije zakuvana u loncu konvencionalnog tj. akademskog.
Lociranje termina Art Brut vraća nas sto godina u prošlost, kada je označavao likovno izražavanje mentalno obolelih osoba ili dece. A nisu li upravo ludaci i deca oni koji su stanjem svoje psihe ili svojim starosnim dobom neminovno van svih kulturnih normi?
Vizuelni izraz Art Brut Serbia grupe obuhvata širok raspon tema i tehnika. Sa jedne strane ovi autori omažiraju svoje junake iz istorije umetnosti, a sa druge, oni se ne plaše da na publiku ostave utisak ludaka i dece neiskvarenih u svom instinktivnom pristupu likovnosti.
Godinu dana od kako je formalno osnovana, grupa Art Brut Serbia iza sebe ima već zapažene aktivnosti i rezultate. Nekoliko izložbi, kolonija, performansa i radionica izraz su velike želje članova da se stanje u srpskoj umetnosti promeni iz korena.
Oslanjajući se na nagonske impulse pri stvaranju, oslobađaju i kreiraju potpuno sveže i žive motive i izraze, neopterećene akademizmom i kulturno-političkim standardima u Srbiji, ali prožete direktnom kritikom istih.

Those ‘’different’’ authors were the ones who radically changed the visual culture of the twentieth century. Duchamp and the Dadaists were considered as eccentrics and exhibitionists, the Fluxists and the members of Viennese Actionism were shocking the art establishment. However, with their experiments, they gave the tailwind. No matter how obscure was their work considered, only one thing is for certain: the audience never turned their head away completely, because every obscurity possesses something mesmerizing and primal. The literal translation of the French term ‘’Art brut’’ would be ‘’raw art’’- the one that is not yet a product of a conventional and academic practice. Search for the term ‘’Art brut’’ takes us back a hundred years in the past, when it stood for the artistic expression of mentally ill or children. Are not the mentally ill and children, because of their mental disorder or their age, unavoidably outside of all cultural norms? The visual expression of Art Brut Serbia group encompasses a broad range of topics and techniques.
On the one hand they are paying and homage to their idols in the history of art, and on the other hand, they are not afraid to make an impression on the audience as unspoiled lunatics or infants in their instinctive approach to art. For one year of its existence, the group Art Brut Serbia already had notable activities and results. Several exhibitions, art colonies, performances and workshops are the expression of the great desire to change the condition of Serbian art from the roots.
Relying on the instinctive impulse to create and release a completely fresh and vibrant motifs and expressions, unburdened by academism and cultural and political standards in Serbia, but imbued with direct criticism of the same.
